Installing the Solution

Last Updated: 31 August, 2018

Installing the ElasticOCR solution for SharePoint 2013 or 2016 is much like installing any SharePoint Solution Package. The following steps walk you through the process of installing the solution and activating the applicable features to make ElasticOCR available within your on-premises SharePoint environment.

Note: This guide assumes that your SharePoint environment has been deployed using best practices and a least-privileged security model.

Installing the Solution

Open a remote desktop connection to the SharePoint 2013 or 2016 server that hosts Central Administration, being sure to login using your environment’s “Setup” account. Download the latest ElasticOCR SharePoint solution package and place it in a known path on this server.

Launch the SharePoint Management Shell, or a standard PowerShell window with the SharePoint snap-in loaded and execute the Add-SPSolution command below to install the solution file you previously downloaded, being sure to update the path to the downloaded file.

Add-SPSolution c:\Solutions\ElasticOCR.SharePoint.Solution.wsp

Within SharePoint Central Administration, navigate to System Settings, Manage Farm Solutions, and click on the “elasticocr.sharepoint.solution.wsp” solution.

From the navigation bar within the Solution Properties screen, click “Deploy Solution”, then click “OK” at the bottom of the screen.

Verify successful deployment of the solution by ensuring a “Deployed” status is displayed.

Enabling the Web Application Feature

The web application feature must be enabled on any web application that you wish to configure ElasticOCR. Within SharePoint Central Administration, navigate to Application Management, Manage Web Applications. Select the web application that ElasticOCR should be enabled on, then click “Manage Features” in the ribbon.
